Black Ink is coming to UDM!!!

This isn’t your father’s poetry collective...

If you love poetry, you hate poetry, you watch HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, you’ve never heard of it, you’re into hip hop/rap/performance art/spoken word, or you’re ready to be blown away by a group of extraordinary artists--then this event is for you!

Black Ink Collective is a nationally-recognized, Detroit-based performance troupe that combines written and spoken word talent. They are known for their commanding stage performances and fresh, cutting-edge writing content. The unique blend of song, poetry, and dramatic demonstration makes an evening with Black Ink absolutely unforgettable. Recent noteworthy performances include the Detroit Writers’ Guild’s All-Star Poetry Jam, and the 2002 National Poetry Slam competition, at which members of Black Ink took first place.

Black Ink will be performing on Wednesday, February 26th from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on the second floor of the McNichols campus library. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are appreciated. For further information, please contact Prof. Rosemary Weatherston, Director of the Dudley Randall Center for Print Culture, at weatherr@udmercy.edu or 313.993.1083. A map of the McNichols Campus is available at http://www.udmercy.edu/ under "General Information."

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!
