Industrial/Organizational Psychology Master’s Program

Master’s Degree Program Components

The master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology includes:

  • Completion of 42 credit hours of coursework
  • Internship experience of 250 hours of supervised practice in the field
  • A Capstone Course that integrates theory and practice over two semesters
  • Comprehensive Examination covering major skill areas
  • Thesis Option, recommended for students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. in the field. (Other students may elect to take two additional courses in Psychology or Business Administration.)

The program consists of graduate courses that survey the broad range of applied industrial/organizational psychology areas. The I/O program involves 42 credit hours, 36 of which are required course work hours completed through the following curriculum:

  • PYC 661 Statistical Methods II
  • PYC 504 Advanced Research
  • PYC 571 Test Construction
  • PYC 572 Human Resource Assessment
  • PYC 573 Ethical Issues in the Workplace

  • PYC 576 Multicultural Issues
  • PYC 579 Capstone Experience I
  • PYC 588 Capstone Experience II

Students who elect to complete an additional 6 hours in place of a master’s thesis may select two courses from the following possible elective courses:
