SPECIALIST DEGREE

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Each prospective student must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School and have an overall grade point average of 2.50 (3.0 in psychology) for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate work. In addition, the student must have completed 15 hours in undergraduate psychology courses, including introductory psychology, developmental or child psychology, and statistics.

  1. Interested individuals should file an application with the College of Liberal Arts. This application must include:
    1. a completed application form, obtainable from the office, or online,
    2. one official transcript from each institution which the applicant has attended, and
    3. the application fee.
  2. In addition, the psychology department requires that the following materials be submitted:
    1. two letters of recommendation
    2. supplementary application form
    3. scores from the Graduate Record Exam general aptitude test (i.e. the GRE), and
    4. a one to two page statement by the applicant, describing his or her professional goals, as well as any special qualifications which may not be evident from the other application materials; this statement should also include the name, address and phone number of the applicant.

The deadline for applying is February 1.

Because of the professional nature of the program, each qualified candidate will be assessed by interview, recommendations, and other means for necessary interpersonal qualifications before acceptance into the program.
